Hello! I am Alissa.
Alissa attended college for fine arts, theatre & music. She is certified in Reiki II and imparts her practices and passions into her journal-making.
Alissa apprenticed and traveled with her chemist father, Bob Ward, her entire life until his recent passing four years ago. It was then that she started experimenting with paper making using his lab equipment.
How BeeLeaf came to life
I found myself with a huge pile of unused save the dates. I thought, why not take something that seemed so fleeting and turn it into something everlasting? To be held and cherished.
Turn what once was going to be a visual of your commitment to another person and refocus that onto yourself. Have a custom journal made for yourself and use it as a creative tool to manifest your beautiful new life.
Have you saved bouquets of flowers over the years? Don’t know what to do with them? You don’t want to throw them away, because they mean so much but you’re also not too keen on letting them clutter your space. Send them over to Bee-Leaf and let us make you the most beautiful paper you’ve ever seen using your special flowers.
Bee-Leaf Journals
The artist Alissa Ward, creator of Bee-Leaf journals, implements her handmade paper with natural materials. For her paper making, she collects specific flowers, herbs, and botanicals. Focusing on a plant's unique properties, she creates “Harvest Journals” with flowers such as Lilac & Daisy in the Spring, Jasmine, Sweet Pea & Snapdragon in the Summer, and Goldenrod & Squash Blossom in the Fall. Alissa focuses on Roses in the Winter.
The individual pages of her journals are tea bathed, dried, and pressed, if not handmade. The edges are embellished, by hand or stamping methods. Organic hemp or leather cord is used for binding. A charm, special to each journal, is added for closure.
